Roskakala (Trash Fish) was 3m high and 20m long wooden pike resting in the shore. Roskakala was made of aspen wood. Aspen was chosen for this project, because it has a reputation as a trash tree even it is very confortable to work with, it is strong and it has good weather resistant. But also because there is not such a thing called trash trees, really!

Roskakala is also telling us the story of plastic waste in the sea. @jonnarotolapukkila hand pressed 80m fabric with plastic waste patterns, designed by her. You could step inside the fish to see how the plastic endedup to the fish and to the food chain.

About the food chain, pikes and many other fish are known as trash fish, but actually those are also known as a egologically sustainable source of protein. So maybe we should give them a little more respect. Let’s chose a “trash fish” to eat fish wise.
